Do you have a sneaking suspicion that you are under investigation by a private investigator? You may have seen the flash from a camera that was pointed your way, you may have been told by friends that someone is asking questions about you, or you may just have a sneaking suspicion that someone you know has hired a private investigation company to follow you.
Whatever it is you’re feeling and whatever the reason might be, your suspicion may actually turn out to be true. Are you being investigated? Let’s put this puzzle together and identify these six potential signs of being under investigation:
1. You Notice an Unfamiliar Car in Your Neighbourhood
We all get to know our neighbours and their cars. We even know which types of cars are more frequently seen in our neighbourhood. When a random unfamiliar car starts to make multiple appearances in your neighbourhood (and it isn’t from someone moving in, or a college kid visiting his parents), this could be a pretty clear sign that you’re under investigation and someone is running surveillance on you.
Of course, this sign could also be a coincidence, so see if some of the other points on this list are happening to you before you make up your mind as to whether or not you’re under investigation
2. You See a Person Following You Wherever You Go
If you tend to live in a city and get around mostly on foot, you may notice a stranger following you around wherever you go. It may take some time to notice at first, especially if you like in a busy, bustling city that constantly has people all around. You will eventually notice always seeing the same person though.
If you think you are being followed, walk to a quieter street that’s less busy and see if they still follow you. This should give you a good clue as to whether or not this stranger is following you. Also, go out on your lunch break and see if they are there. All of this can prove that there is indeed someone following you. Just be sure to exercise caution when doing this.
3. You Notice a Stranger Taking Pictures of You
In today’s world, everyone is always taking pictures. Most people tend to use a camera phone or a pretty basic camera. If someone wants to get good pictures of you, they will most likely have a better-quality camera that can take shots from afar and that produce very high-quality images. Seeing someone taking pictures of you with this type of camera is a sign that you are under investigation.
However, this may not always be the case. To fit in, they may use a regular phone camera like everyone else. Just keep your eyes peeled and notice the people you see. That way when you see them taking pictures again you can start to get a good idea of who is taking the pictures.
4. Friends and Family Have Been Questioned About You
Are your friends and family telling you that they’ve been contacted by a private investigator? This investigator might be asking questions about you and digging into your past. If so, this is a huge sign that you are under investigation! They may be asking questions about your past, your relationships, your work-life, your financial situation, your love life, your children, your coworkers, the list goes on.
If you catch on from one friend that this is going on, it’s a good idea to call your other friends and family members to let them know what is going on and to ask them not to talk to them.
5. Notice a Tracker Under Your Car
After all these signs point to yes – you are being investigated – it’s time to get down and take a peek around the bottom of your car. If you really are being followed, there’s a good chance that there is a tracking device under your car. Now that you’ve found it, you’re actually one step ahead of the investigators. You can take that tracker and put it virtually anywhere, successfully throwing the investigator off your tracks.
6. Catching Someone Going Through Your Garbage Once It’s Brought to the Curb
Once we put our garbage on the curb, it’s no longer our property – it becomes public property. This gives investigators – and anyone else for that matter – the ability and right to go through your garbage. Your garbage can paint a whole picture of your life and give away a lot of clues – some of which they may be looking for.
If you’re nervous that this may happen to you, hold on to your garbage until you see the garbage truck pulling up to your street. Then go put it outside and keep your eye on it until the garbage truck picks it up. The same goes for your recycling. This may be a good time to invest in a document shredder!
We hope these six signs can help you answer the question of whether or not you are under investigation.
