GUEST COMMENTARY By Jim Stutsman My name is Jim Stutsman and I am the Libertarian candidate for Congress in District 25. I am a well-ordered person but right now, I am totally ticked off. I have a family, a job, and responsibilities, but the political climate today is rearranging everything I value and have worked for. The Constitution is being ignored; the government is out of control. My privacy is being invaded and my personal liberty is slowly being taken away. Our youth, my kids and grand-kids are losing their future. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I have had it and I intend to do something about it! My opponents are Congressman Lloyd Doggett, the incumbent Democrat, and George Morovich, Republican Party hopeful. My opinion of Congressman Doggett is that he is a party politician with a mediocre record. He is weak on 2nd Amendment rights and has a 97+% record of toeing the party line. My opinion of George Morovich is that he is a very decent guy and has the dubious honor of being the Republican candidate at a time when the party, I believe, no longer knows what a Republic is. A party that has betrayed the people with bigger government, homeland security, the war in Iraq, a desire for a new world order, and a serious drift away from the Constitution our founding fathers gave us. I am different from my opponents in major ways. I differ from Congressman Doggett because I believe government is not the cure for all our problems. I believe in individual liberty and personal responsibility. My opinion of Democrats is that they are social engineers and only they know better than "We the People" what is best for us; shades of Atlas Shrugged. They take from one group by force and give to another group according to their needs. They are a party of social agendas. I am a candidate for personal liberty and individual responsibility.
I am the best choice to serve in the U.S. Congress for District 25 because both the Democrats and Republicans have abdicated their right to represent "We the People." They have lost sight of the fact that the government should serve the people, not the other way around. I believe that I am, and so are you, endowed by the Creator with certain inalienable rights, and these are the right to Life, the right to Liberty, and the right to pursue Happiness. I believe in a strict Constitutional government, a strong national defense that isn't confused with interventionism, and a sovereign United States of America that does not disappear into a "One World Government" or "New World Order."
