What do women want?
The fun-loving Bonobo may hold the key to fulfillment.

“What do women want?” Freud was an idiot.

Women, the adult female of the species, want the same thing as the adult male: sexual release and fulfillment according to their needs and desires. Why doesn’t every adult, the post-pubescent, in our culture have the basic right to everyday sexual fulfillment? I presume that in an egalitarian culture, every one has a right to everyday nutritional, emotional, social, psychological, and existential fulfillment. Why is sexual fulfillment considered frivolous? Physical hungers, whether nutritional or sexual, are equally human. Why is one catered to, while the other is condemned?

I want to be a Bonobo. The Bonobo lives in a relative eden of abundant food. And in this Bonobo Heaven, each fucks everyone else, happily. What’s wrong with us? Why is everyday sexual fulfillment is denied? We, like chimpanzees, live in a hell of scarce resources. When resources are limited, they are hoarded by the strong. The sexual drive is coercively manipulated to control the population. This is the way things work in the world of scarce resources for ignorant primates, whether chimpanzee or human. Both let the gods provide the population controls.

And God provides: war, starvation, disease and pestilence. Are we in Afghanistan and Iraq merely as instruments of one of God’s methods of birth control, war? War is the result of scarce resources, and scarce resources are the result of overpopulation. We have one problem, and have had this since the last ice age: overpopulation. The history of homo stupidus is the history of fights over resources.

Do we need poor people? Do we need overpopulation, scarce resources, war, and culturally-sanctioned sexual coercion? You do if you want to be a powerful elite in a world of scarce resources. You need someone to lord it over.

Why didn’t we go into Afghanistan and clean out the fanatics, in a pincer movement with Pakistan? We left instead a festering wound, a base of operations for the fanatics, who could continue causing havoc. In whose interest is this? It is not in the interest of any of the apparently disposable, it seems as far as the powerful are concerned, people in the streets of Baghdad, Bali and Istanbul, and that includes American soldiers.

It is in the interest of the now-powerful to keep the fanatics going. To maintain their grip on scarce resources, they need an enemy to distract people from the real problem: overpopulation, and their own greed and desire to control all resources.

Likewise, the Republicans are against support for birth control measures, not on moral grounds, but because they need overpopulation, they need poor people to prop up the pyramid upon which they want to continue to sit atop. If population decreased and resources were not scarce, their power pyramid would collapse.

I want everyday sexual fulfillment for every one according to their needs and desires. We aren’t going to get that until we have we have an abundance of resources, and we aren’t going to have that until we manage our population growth to meet our resources. And we’re not going to manage our population with wisdom until we get people into power who aren’t stupid and ignorant talking chimps. We need people in power who know history, anthropology, and kindness. Make love carefully, and war not at all.
