EDITOR'S CONSIDERATIONS
War
& What America
Doesn't Need: 'Domestic Security Enhancement'
'
and as a measure to secure
enhancements which will, without doubt, provide an even further
enhanced measure of Homeland Security for the American people against
terrerersm.'
-- Bush State of the Union Address,
2005
LOS ANGELES -- March 11, 2003
-- A few years back when Americans didn't trust technology &
politicians to resolve all their inconveniences, to solve all the
problems in the world, to make them feel 'secure' at all times (physically
and emotionally), back when Americans believed in God, back then,
something like the Domestic
Security Enhancement Act of 2003 would have seemed like fiction,
like some horrible science fiction.
America 2003 begins to resemble the technoworld
prophesied in so many sci-fi motion pictures of last century. And,
in his ever-malleable post-September 11, 2001, realm, Bush the Younger
presses to make this new sci-fi shocker, the Domestic Security Enhancement
Act, a fact of life for all 21st-century Americans.
21st century America will be an America of Enhanced
Security. This is due to the War on Terrorism, which, according
to some commentators, will last for quite a while. The length of
the War on Terrorism is undefined, as are its goals; the enemies
in the War on Terrorism, the Terrorists, remain nebulous.
Terrorist-in-Chief TV Star Osama has mastered his
deceitful, "cowardly" trade to such a point that he has
learned to exist in suspension between life and death in some mysterious
mountainous cave-dwelling. He is resurrected on occasion via VHS
videocassette (only when necessary, of course) to offer curses upon
America the Humble and to cast seeds of blessings over his fellow
fiends.
This opposing force, Osama: Master of Poorly
Translated Sound-Bite, has invaded the homes of the Homeland
on many instances with his explosions of hate speech, his overly
harsh critiques of our foreign interventions that confound Average
American Consumer, his encouraging posture toward Evildoers, and
his tiresome vows to bring America to her knees.
For over eighteen months now, the War on Terrorism
has continued, shrouded in the deserts of central Asia, and filtered
through the sieve of government silence and orchestrated propaganda
concerts sold to viewers as '24-hour News.'
At the writing of this report, America is suffering
from the constant confusion caused by nauseating stink bombs of
pro- and anti-war propaganda lies and misrepresentation being tossed
from the trenches of interested parties' (UN, USA, EU, WWP, Iraq)
respective "Departments of Permitted Information."
A climax approaches
